WITHERINGTON FARM
Welcome to the lot of Skimmers fishery focus!
On the day of writing this (10.05.2011) the carp are showing heavy signs of spawning. Most of the Roach and Bream have already spawned. Barnmoor has at last started to turn up some BIG Carp. 2 Mirror Carp of 21lb and 20lb 4oz were landed by John Wallis last weekend along with a Leather Carp weighing in at 18lb 2oz. He returned this Saturday just gone to bank another monster Mirror that tipped the scales and a whopping 23lb 12oz.
There have been large bags of Bream coming out on Barnmoor lake. Soft pellet, 6mm luncheon meat cubes and worm being the best baits. Sellwood lake has produced match weights of over 100lb using similar baits to those on Barnmoor. Cottage has fished strangely, some days the Carp have fed well, other days have been a struggle. The large Skimmers that have not shown all Winter have put in a strong appearance. The Tench and large Roach have also shown. The bait of choice or those seems to be worm. Topmoor (Snake) lake has had huge weights of Carp coming from down the edges and down the track on cubed meat also. As yet the up-in-the- water pellet method has not produced but with temperatures rising watch this space! Paste has started to pick up better fish as well. Plenty of Silverfish still showing on maggot.
